ImpactLife was pleased to host a polling place at its headquarters in Davenport, Iowa for the 2024 General Election. More than 800 local voters visited our lobby to cast their ballot throughout the day. We know that many have been here before as blood donors. In fact, being a registered voter has a strong correlation with being a blood donor.
It makes sense that those who care enough to have a say on the issues and to choose local, state, and national leaders are also willing to support their community as a blood donor. These actions allow voters and blood donors to show up for their communities in meaningful ways. Through voting, we shape our community’s and our nation's future, and through blood donation, donors provide essential resources for communities in need.
The poll workers who ran today's polling place would make a formidable blood drive committee. The group of nine volunteers -- intentionally selected as a bipartisan group -- worked together as a team to welcome voters and provide ballots from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day. Their commitment to running a friendly, efficient, and by-the-book polling place was evident throughout the 13-hour day.
By donating blood or sponsoring blood drives, organizations and individuals alike demonstrate civic engagement and show a tangible commitment to personal and corporate social responsibility. We love seeing so many people fulfill their civic duty by voting, and we're grateful every day for those who support their community by giving blood.
