One of the nation’s largest blood drives is set to take place July 12 and 13 in the St. Louis region, providing essential support for our region’s blood supply at a critical time of year. The KSHE Summer Blood Drive comes just a week after blood donation dipped at Fourth of July and only days after ImpactLife shipped blood components to Houston to support blood inventory needs following Hurricane Beryl (more information, below).

The KSHE 95 Summer Blood Drive will help blood inventories recover from critically low levels by providing more than 2000 donations given at nine locations over two days across the St. Louis region.

ImpactLife ships blood products to Houston
Earlier this week, ImpactLife joined a national effort to ship additional blood components to the region affected by Hurricane Beryl. The storm has greatly impacted blood donation in the region, but patient care continues at hospitals in Houston and the surrounding region.

Blood and platelet donations are used to support ongoing, routine use at local hospitals while a reserve is needed in case of a spike in demand due to large scale emergency or mass trauma. Additional donations will help ensure ongoing availability of blood components for hospitals in our region and wherever needed across the country.

The KSHE Summer Blood Drive was first held in 1984 to help support the blood supply during this critical time of year. Since that time, the KSHE listening audience has become a reliable base of support for the blood supply during the summer and holiday season, with nearly 5000 listeners participating in the July and December blood drives every year.
