ImpactLife encourages all eligible donors to include blood donation as part of this week's Thanksgiving traditions. The mid-week holiday is expected to cause a substantial decrease in the level of blood donation, so additional donors are needed before and after Thanksgiving to help maintain adequate inventories through the holiday weekend.

Through its Good Giving program, the blood center is offering a special opportunity for donors to support local food banks in addition to supporting the region’s blood supply. ImpactLife will provide all donors with a voucher to redeem for the donor’s choice of an electronic gift card or equivalent value donation to local food banks.

"We're offering donors the opportunity to increase the impact of their donation during the holiday season," said Watts. "We know volunteer donors want to do all they can to support their community. Supporting food needs as well as the blood supply is a great way to give back at this critical time of year."

So far this year, blood donors have directed more than $60,000 in support to the ImpactLife "Good Giving" program, and these funds have been used to support Make-A-Wish chapters, no-kill animal shelters, and the National Forest Foundation. Learn more at bloodcenter.org/goodgiving.
